What I do —
and how I do
it differently

Studio-quality design, strategy and development for architecture, engineering and development practices. Delivered directly, without the overhead of an agency or the risk of a generalist.

Sector focus

Architecture, Engineering, Development

Based

London — working globally

Experience

In-house at Make Architects + 10 years studio

Sector intelligence

Ten years working only with built environment practices

Strategy-led websites built in Webflow — designed to win the right clients, not just look good. Every build starts with positioning work: who you are, who you're for, and what you want them to do when they arrive. The design follows from that thinking, not the other way around.

I build in Webflow because it gives practices genuine control — your team can update content, publish projects and edit copy without touching code or calling a developer. CMS structure, filtering systems, interactive maps, forms, animations and SEO architecture are all built in.

Deliverables

Brand strategy and positioning workshop

Sitemap, content architecture and wireframes

Full Webflow design and development

CMS setup with custom fields and filtering

SEO and metadata structure

CMS training session (recorded)

Visual identities that feel as rigorous as your buildings — not generic, not trend-led, and not borrowed from another sector. I work from positioning outwards: understanding what makes your practice distinctive before a single typeface or colour is chosen.

The result is a system — logo, typography, colour, texture, application rules — that holds together across every touchpoint: website, print, presentations, social. Built to be used by your team without it falling apart.

Deliverables

Brand discovery workshop and competitor audit

Logo and wordmark (multiple variants)

Typography and colour system

Brand guidelines document

Stationery suite (digital and print-ready)

Social media and email signature templates

Typical timeline

6–8 weeks

Best for

Practices rebranding or launching

Most practices struggle to articulate what makes them different in one clear sentence. This work fixes that. Through research, interviews and competitor analysis, I develop a strategic foundation — positioning, messaging hierarchy and tone of voice — that everything else can be built on.

Often this is the starting point for a rebrand or new website. Sometimes it stands alone as a clarity exercise before a pitch or practice review. Either way, the output is a document your whole team can use, not a vague brand values poster.

Deliverables

Stakeholder interviews and market research

Competitor positioning audit

Brand positioning statement

Messaging hierarchy (audience-specific)

Tone of voice guidelines

Strategic recommendations document

Typical timeline

3–4 weeks

Best for

Practices at a growth inflection point

Writing for built environment practices requires knowing the sector — understanding the difference between a practice director and a planning committee, what a structural engineer cares about versus a developer. Generic copywriters don't have that. I do.

I write website copy, case studies, blog content and project descriptions — all structured for both human readers and search engines. SEO and AEO (answer engine optimisation) are built into the structure from the start, not bolted on afterwards.

Deliverables

Keyword research and SEO audit

Website page copy (all sections)

Project case study writing

Blog content (monthly or batch)

Meta titles and descriptions

Structured data / schema markup

Typical timeline

2–6 weeks depending on scope

Best for

Practices with low organic traffic

Pitch decks and proposals that win projects. Annual reports, capability statements and bid documents that position the practice. Publication design for monographs, anniversary books and catalogues that last.

Print design for built environment practices needs to feel as considered as the work it represents — tactile, precise, typographically intelligent. I work with your printers or recommend trusted suppliers, and oversee production through to delivery.

Deliverables

Pitch deck and proposal design

Capability and credentials documents

Annual reports and publications

Print-ready artwork (CMYK, bleed, ICC profile)

Editable templates for team use

Typical timeline

2–8 weeks depending on complexity

Best for

Practices with upcoming bids or events

Content strategy and scheduled publishing for practices that know they should be more visible but don't have the time or structure to make it happen. LinkedIn strategy, post writing and scheduling — batched in advance so the practice keeps appearing, even when the team is busy on site.

I also build automated publishing systems: content written and loaded into a schedule, publishing to social and updating the website without manual intervention. Particularly useful for practices going through a quiet period, a handover, or — like this studio — a maternity leave.

Deliverables

LinkedIn content strategy and profile audit

Batch post writing (monthly or quarterly)

Scheduling and publishing setup

Automated CMS publishing system

Analytics review and monthly reporting

Typical timeline

Ongoing retainer or quarterly batches

Best for

Practices that have gone quiet online

How it works

A process built for busy practices

Every project follows a structure that keeps momentum without demanding more of your time than is necessary. Directors are involved in the decisions that matter. The rest, I handle.

01

Discovery

A structured conversation to understand your practice, your ambitions, your audience and your constraints. This shapes everything that follows — so it's worth getting right before any design work begins.

1–2 weeks

02

Strategy & Direction

Positioning, messaging, content architecture and design direction agreed before production starts. A clear brief means fewer revisions and faster delivery.

1–2 weeks

03

Design & Build

The main production phase. You receive work in structured rounds with clear feedback windows — not a drip-feed of isolated assets. Progress is visible throughout.

4–8 weeks

04

Refinement & Launch

Final amends, QA across devices and browsers, launch preparation and handover. For websites, this includes a CMS training session so your team can manage content independently from day one.

1–2 weeks

05

Post-launch Support

30 days of included support after every project. For ongoing clients, retainer arrangements are available for continued content, SEO monitoring and iterative improvements.

30 days included

01

You always work with the same person

No account manager translating your brief to a junior. No handoff mid-project. The person you speak to in the first meeting is the person designing, building and thinking about your work from start to finish.

02

Sector knowledge built over ten years

With in-house experience at Make Architects and a decade working exclusively with architecture, engineering and development practices, the learning curve is already behind us. You don't pay for time spent getting up to speed.

03

Fast, direct, no overhead

Decisions happen in one conversation. Revisions don't require a project manager, a brief update and a three-day turnaround. Working directly with a solo specialist means the pace matches your needs, not an agency's workflow.

04

What AI cannot replace

AI can generate. It cannot understand the culture of your practice, build trust with your directors, or make judgement calls about what fits your brand. That's what a decade of sector relationships and craft produces — and what you get here.

Who I work with

Built for practices that
mean business

I work with directors, partners and founders at practices that are serious about how they present themselves — and understand that design is a commercial decision, not just an aesthetic one.

Architecture

Architecture Practices

From boutique studios to 50+ person practices. Website redesigns, brand refreshes, pitch material and publication design for RIBA-chartered firms across all sectors.

Engineering

Engineering Consultancies

Structural, civil and MEP engineers who need to communicate complex technical expertise clearly to a non-technical audience of developers, architects and planners.

Development

Development Practices

Residential and mixed-use developers who need a visual identity and digital presence that reflects the quality and ambition of their schemes — and attracts the right partners.
